Karpaz Gate Marina in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Due to Open in May 2011

During the summer, significant progress has been made on the development of the Karpaz Gate Marina. The latest pictures from the site reveal that the main and secondary breakwaters, which have been designed to ensure a sheltered harbor for all visiting yachts, are now both complete. This is a significant landmark in the progress of the marina and an exciting time for the construction and management team.

The main breakwater extends about a half a mile west, while the secondary breakwater reaches about a tenth of a mile north from the coast. The truly unique breakwater design has been optimized to ensure easy, safe and comfortable maneuvering within the marina and will ensure a sheltered environment for yachts needing a home port or visiting berth in the eastern Mediterranean.

Additional advances have been made with the completion of the backfill of the land in the dry dock, and the commencement of work on the marina buildings. Also, the building work for the casino, which is to be the region’s first, is now complete up to the second floor. The placing of a contract with a pontoon supplier is also imminent.

A first-class range of facilities, such as a marina village, luxury hotels, eateries, chandlery, shops, boutiques, car hire and travel services, have been designed with the needs of the yachting community in mind. There are plans for a concierge service that will deliver cleaning, washing down, and a meal and grocery delivery service to yachtsmen who want it, with an inspection service for absent owners.

State of the art security will provide peace of mind to yacht owners and visitors, while Karpaz Gate Marina’s excellent transport links to other parts of the island--including a shuttle service to Nicosia--will ensure that visitors can explore the historic and natural treasures of the island with ease. Its proximity to the popular yacht cruising areas of southern and south western Turkey and the nearby availability of the major airports Larnaca and Ercan will provide further benefits for visitors.

The owners and developers of Karpaz Gate Marina are making a limited number of marina berths available free of charge for one year. To apply for a free berth, visit www.karpazbay.com.
