Brunei Cruising Notes

Kuala Belait

This is a nice place to check-in/check-out from Brunei. All offices: Health, Marine, Immigration, and Customs are in the same building. Anchor at 04°34′.900N 114°11′.300E.

Kuala Belait is a very little town with a little market near the river.

Brunei

The RYCB, next to Muara, is very nice and easy going. However, the RBYC is isolated and taxis are difficult to get and expensive. Yusof, the taximan, will help you with your journey (send SMS as it works with your Malaysian sim +6738749965).

Labuan

A new marina just opened in Labuan on April 1, 2010. 05°16′.300N 115°14′.800E. 10m+ at the entrance.

The marina can currently host 15 boats. There are electricity and water.

To proceed with the clearance in/out:

1. Marine Department (1st floor)

2. Customs (ground floor), and

3. Immigration (International Ferry terminal)

All are in the same area and are walking distance from the marina (800m).

The marina has 2 problems. The entrance is not well positioned which means many pieces of wood and rubbish enter the marina as well as waves from the passing boat traffic. The marina is a little bit noisy at night as there is a lot of traffic.

But, the island is beautiful, nice, clean and many things worth visiting. There is also a very nice fruit and vegetable market plus many stores and one mall.

Enjoy your day
