Here in New Zealand, aid efforts to the victims of the tsunami are underway. Many people have relatives and friends in Samoa and Tonga, and volunteers and materials are en route to begin rebuilding.
New Zealand’s foreign minister Murray McCully, who has just returned from Samoa, encouraged aid in the form of cash donations, which can be used flexibly. There are several ways to do this:
