I spent two and a half months in Stanley early in 2008.

The mine fields are fenced and give protection from wandering into danger from the land. However they are NOT fenced from approach from seaward. That was my experience.

I first anchored outside Stanley Harbour off a beautiful white sand beach. I learned later that the beach was mined. There was no fence to warn of danger to anyone approaching from seaward.

I obtained a map of the minefields around Stanley. Only three other areas in the islands were said to be mined. These areas were indicated to me when I obtained the map.
