Greece: Zea Marina Athens - Burglary at night

We visited our son in Athens in October staying in Zea Marina. We are very security minded, even more so now!!

On our second night despite washboards up and mooring bows to (we sleep in the forward bunk), we were burgled as we slept!! My husband woke up, got up after thinking he heard a cat on deck, but....one shoe on the pontoon belonging to the bu..ler was the only sign of any visitor!! He(she) took (new) deck shoes from the cockpit to replace his missing one and my (new) mobile phone, but missed the laptops under the phone in his haste to leave.

The marina boasts excellent security but the gates were not always locked and even if they are, it isn't difficult to jump on to the boat nearest the gate and proceed from there! Our son tells us that theft in the marina is rife.
