All boats arriving in Langkawi from Thailand - or countries that already have confirmed cases of H1N1 by WHO - have to be quarantined upon arrival.
When the particular boat arrives in Langkawi they must first call the marina office asking for a berth. The marina office then has to call the Langkawi Health Department, asking them to send a team to inspect the boat. The marina department will direct the boat to the assigned berth, and inform them to remain on board until Health Department Officers have arrived.
All crew have to fill in Health Declaration Forms, and be ready for checking by the Health Department Officers.
After approval from the Health Department Office, the crew are then allowed to go ashore.
The marina dockhands are allowed and encouraged to wear face masks when they receive the particular boat’s lines and when they deliver the Health Declaration Forms.
If the boat arrives at night, the security guards will take over and carry out the same procedures as the marina dockhands. Nobody is allowed ashore or on the pontoon without the clearance from the Health Department.
Please note that boats arriving late at night might have to wait until 8.00 am for inspection by the Health Department.
