I can confirm that (on Sunday April 12, 2009) the cat., Erica, did hit a reef on the NW coast of
Madagascar. They say it was an uncharted reef - so be careful going inside
the drop-off there!
I'm told the crew got into the dinghy which sank & then
launched the liferaft. After activating the EPIRB, a Madagascan Govt.
vessel from Majunga was sent for assistance.
One week later, the owner of Erica chartered a local charter cat. called
Admiral Explorer, to return to where Erica was grounded to see what could
be salvaged. On arrival they found that everything possible had been
removed by the locals and nothing of value was salvageable.
