New Zealand's new Port of Entry - Marsden Cove
International cruisers can now make Marsden Cove marina, just
inside Whangarei Harbour, their official port of entry into New Zealand.
Cruising vessels will now enjoy the convenience of an international
standard marina with fuel, water and sewage. Amenities ashore include
modern ablutions and laundry facilities, plus a range of domestic retail
services.
Vessels up to 50m LOA can be accommodated.
If maintenance is required, there is an extensive range of ship building
and repair companies located approximately 15km up the harbour close to
Whangarei City.
Arriving Vessels
If you are a foreign vessel arriving in New Zealand at Marsden Cove, fax
or e-mail advance notice before leaving your last port.
At least 48 hours before arrival you must contact NZ Customs with your
estimated time and place of arrival through one of these methods:
- Call Taupo Maritime Radio (ZLM) on SSB 4125, 6215, 8291 or 12290 Kbz;
- Call Russell Radio on SSB 4445, 6516 or 13103 Kbz to report for you;
- E-mail yachts@customs.govt.nz.
Do not anchor in New Zealand waters before clearing customs.
When approaching Whangarei we suggest you call Whangarei Harbour Radio
on VHF Ch.16 or Ch.19. They can direct you to Marsden Cove Marina.
