Boat Kid Chatter - a new forum for cruising kids

Topic: Cruising Families

Nordhavn.com launched a new feature at the end of October 2008, geared toward kids and their parents who are considering a long-range cruise with the entire family.

Called Boat Kid Chatter, the section aims to give some insight on how both children and adults might handle hanging out at sea for weeks or months at a time together. The twist is that the observations come from the child's perspective. There are lots of school-aged kids who are - or have gone - on these adventures of a lifetime with their parents or grandparents - and many right within the Nordhavn family. For those mulling over the idea, it can be seemingly daunting, so we tapped our own two experts, Ayla, 11, and Kimberly, 10, for some advice. "Boat kids" in their own right, the two girls are currently enjoying around-the-world trips with their parents on their Nordhavns while discovering new cultures, meeting new friends and learning new hobbies.

Boat Kid Chatter has been designed so that kids up to 13 years of age can ask Ayla and Kimberly any questions they might have about living happily and peacefully with their families at sea. These girls are seasoned pros and ready to answer with the expertise and candor that can only come from having experienced time away from school dances and sleepovers.

There is a forum also where kids can air their thoughts and share ideas and questions.
