Questions for the West Pacific

Dear Noonsite readers,

I have a couple of important questions (to help us with planning our Pacific crossing) and I hope someone can help us out!?

We want to transit the Panama canal at the end of March 2009. We want to cross the Pacific but also want to enjoy all the nice Islands on the way. However, I know we have to hurry.

Can anyone tell us when we have to be in the North of Australia and to where the Hurricane area leads?

We want to pass Northern Australia and maybe go to Indonesia for a couple of weeks, or sail straight to Christmas Island. Are there also hurricanes in the Arafura sea?

We want to leave the Pacific at the beginning of November, is this to late?

If we have to sail too fast so we are not able to see all the nice Islands we are thinking to sail to New Zealand at the beginning of November. I saw the earliest we can leave for the North of Australia is April the next year, or is it a better idea to sail down the South side of Australia to Christmas Island?

The latest we want to be back in Holland is July 2011, or October 2010, we will see. We start in January 2009 from Curacao, but we have to prepare the boat for 1 month and leave for Panama at the beginning of March, hoping that we don`t have to wait for 8 weeks like this year!

We hope someone can give us some answers, that would be realy nice in our busy busy period of leaving stress.

Thanks!!
