Advice needed on Route from Adriatic to Pacific and Type of Yacht

Hello,

With a friend of mine we are thinking about buying a sailing yacht with the long term goal of sailing to the Pacific - visiting Kapingamarangi Atoll (north of the Equator, NE of Bismarck Island) - from the Adriatic sea.

Now I start to roughly plan that journey, regarding vessel, route and time.

Considering that we have only inland water sailing experience, I would like comments (aside from this being an obviously very daring idea:
- What boat would you recommend?
- Which way?
- And how long do you think it takes to get to Kapingamarangi?

I know it is an extensive question but careful planning is very important as Jimmy often writes, I would appreciate any advice.
