Mexico to Galapagos

Topic: Pacific Ocean East
Countries: Galapagos, Mexico

I'm looking to skirt the coast from PV to about Huatulco and jumping off from there to the Galapagos.

I would like to take a northern approach to the Galapagos, to pass by the Darwin & Wolf Islands.

Would it be more recommendable to continue with one foot on the beach until I've passed the Gulf of Tehuantepec? Or would this route give sufficient space if there were a blow?

Gracias y saludos,
Dave

Dave,

I normally recommend a direct route. There is a full description of the route to Galapagos, as well as tactics on how to deal with a blow in the Gulf of Tehuantepec, in my World Cruising Routes - the latest, sixth edition was published recently.

Jimmy Cornell
