The controversial yacht tax introduced in Sardinia in 2006 has been ruled illegal by the Italian court, but is still being collected in 2008. However, rates have been reduced in time for the 2008 summer season.
The tax applies to all private yachts over 14 m LOA that visit the island between June 1st and September 30th, and sailing yachts pay only 50% of these fees.
EUR 120 for yachts between 14 and 15,99 LOA
EUR 500 for yachts between 16 to 19,99 LOA
EUR 750 for yachts between 20 to 23,99 LOA
EUR 1.250 for yachts between 24 to 29,99 LOA
EUR 2.500 for yachts between 30 to 60 LOA
EUR 3.750 for yachts more than 60 LOA
The tax is applied per week (a 1 day stay equals 1 week) for a maximum of 5 weeks, after 5 weeks no more tax must be paid.
Payment is due within 24 hours of arrival via online payment on the Regione Sardinia website (major credit cards accepted) or via bank wire or local post office.
