Clearance fees in Barbados have recently risen to $100 Barbados Dollars
(roughly $50USD) to clear a yacht out. This is applicable for all yachts under 50 metres, and the charge goes up to $250 Barbados Dollars for larger vessels.
This is a large price hike from the original 8 Barbados Dollars and tonnage makes no difference. Tonnage makes no difference - I just paid 100 BBD to clear out a 7.7 metre yacht. There is no warning from Customs on the charge, so beware that you will be forced to pay it.
It's a shame, and will no doubt further reduce yachts coming across the Atlantic and making their first stop in Barbados - best to just carry on to St Lucia.
I came here for US visa reasons, and as an additional note, if there are yachts wishing to obtain US visas in Barbados, they can do so here without an appointment. The charge is 265 BBD plus 38 BBD to have the visa sent via DH - (this is mandatory, no same day pass back is allowed, nor physical pickup - The visa MUST BE POSTED). Visa appointments are available at 0800 1030 and 1330, five days a week, not including holidays (of which there are many).
