Caribbean, St. Martin to Azores in May

We want to sail to the Azores from St Marten West Indies in first week of May, what will be the best route your recommend us?

You have two options:

(1) Sail to Bermuda and then from there to the Azores, trying to get favourable westerly winds close to lat. 40 degrees N.

(2) Sail directly to the Azores - but take enough fuel as you may have light winds or calms.

Both routes are well described in my World Cruising Routes - the latest edition was published last month.
