Pilot Slowdown Causes Canal Delays

Several cruising yachts have informed Noonsite that the reason for the lengthy delays on Panama Canal transits (reported earlier this week on Noonsite) is due to a work slowdown by Canal Pilots.

It appears that the pilots want a higher pay deal but cannot strike, therefore they are resorting to a slowdown during Canal transits, thus creating a backlog of ships during this busy time of year.
