Advice Wanted On Circumnavigating With a Retriever

We are close to purchasing a 43ft catamaran with the objective of a two year (or so) voyage with our two children. We plan to start with the Med which we think is feasible because of the PETS scheme but would like the option to keep on going and the one remaining point of contention is whether or not it is feasible to do a circumnavigation with our Flatcoated retriever on board or whether the extra immigration work, vet visits, periods confined on board etc. etc. etc. would make it very wearing for all concerned.

I would like to post this and ask for any advice.
