We are in Phuket planning to sail to East Africa via the Andaman Islands, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Chagos, Seychelles, Zanzibar and Kenya to the Med, rather than the more direct Jan/March run which would not allow us the time in the Indian Ocean we would like. You have a Kenya to Red Sea window during September, and on to Port Sudan in September/October. Is there a reasonable onward window to the Med following that time frame?

Yes, the reasonable time to make for the Red Sea is at the change of monsoons, in September or early October. Such a timeframe would get you into the Red Sea by October and into the Med by early November at the latest. This is still ok to get into the Med, although once there you should not plan to go too far: maybe to a marina in Cyprus or southern Turkey for the coming winter.

By the way, keep away from Somali waters as you make your way north... and go east of Socotra... and well offshore!
