Fresh New Website to Enhance ARC 2007 Online Experience

Today sees the publication of the official ARC 2007 website ready for the launch of this year's rally in Gran Canaria.

The official ARC website - at www.worldcruising.com/arc - has been given a crisp new look with simplified navigation and faster page loading to enhance the user experience and enjoyment of the ARC online. The new site offers better integration of both pre-event and current event news and information.

As well as all the ARC news, there are feature stories about people and places and, for the first time, publication of historic ARC results dating back to 2000. This latest resource allows website visitors to compare crossing times for similar yachts over a range of years.

The new automated log feature enables crews to share their experiences via the internet by contributing yacht logs and images directly to the website. As many as one third of the crews are expected to join in with daily logs, which are the most avidly read and widely enjoyed section of the website.

Once the yachts depart on Sunday 25th November, daily yacht position reports will be displayed on the ARC website, giving distance to the finish, daily distance in nautical miles and an individual route map for each yacht. Launching the interactive Google Earth window will enable web visitors to plot the entire fleet, or just a few yachts, on Google's globe, overlaid with wind and cloud data, further enhancing the spectator experience.
