Violent incidents of robbery continue to dog the yachting community in Trinidad as there is a continuation of attacks on the Marina road in Chaguaramas as well as frequent dinghy thefts. Recent reports sent to Noonsite include:

In November 2006 the Wheelhouse Bar and its patrons were robbed at gunpoint.

In January of 2007 the Dutch Captain of a Swan 65 was assaulted and robbed on the main road near IMS.

In early August 2007 the Scottish engineer of a commercial boat was stabbed five times and robbed in daylight in front of Peake's on the main road. Two of the three assailants have reportedly been arrested.

During the week of 5 August the fishing vessel Unda was boarded while docked at Coral Cove and approximately $50,000 of items were stolen.

In early August a Dutch yachtie couple and their young child were robbed at knifepoint of money and passports in a maxi taxi.

A Danish sailing vessel had their dinghy and motor stolen in June. In January, a British vessel had the motor stolen from the dinghy and the dinghy was slashed in an attempt to sink it.

Recent thefts from boats in Marinas include two on the hard. One was the theft of a digital camera from a US boat at Peakes in June and the theft of credit cards and other items from a Dansh boat at IMS. In early 2007, the vessel Dorado was boarded and items stolen while at docked at Peakes.
