Sail Indonesia 2007: Rally Sets Off To A Good Start

The first group of yachts participating in the annual Sail Indonesia event have begun arriving in Kupang, after leaving Darwin on Saturday 21 July. A second group is also due to take the same start line on Saturday 28 again in front of the Darwin Sailing Club at 11am.

A packed programme events is planned for the yachts as they tour the islands of Indonesia, as the fleet visits Timor, Alor, Flores, Sulawesi, Bali, Java and Borneo. Cultural and social events are laid on at each destination as well as tours ot traditional villages and importantly, special arrangements with clearance procedures on arrival in Indonesia. There is free time for those who wish to explore on their own, and the rally concludes October 17 – 22 as yachts can check out of Indonesia at Bali, Nongsa Point Marina in Batam or Kumai.

Yachts interested in joining Sail Indonesia 2008 should send in an expression of interest as soon as possible because entries are accepted in the order that expressions of interest are received. As of July 23 there are already 60 requests to join the rally in 2008.
