Keep Out Of Algerian Waters

Despite being more than 20 miles offshore of the Algerian coast, had a rather frightening experience middle of July 2007. We were boarded at very short notice by a very aggressive, gun waving night time boarding party. The situation was not made better when they noticed the American flag status of the boat (or that we are British). For a period of 30-60 minutes we genuinely feared for our lives. We were then escorted out of Algerian waters.

I would recommend that you approach Algerian waters as your last option – particularly if you are on a USA flag (they do not like the British flag either I think).
