Sailing in Yalikavak Turkey

Published 17 years ago, updated 5 years ago

Recently returned from a 2 week charter out of Yalikavak, near Bodrum. All I can say is that the surroundings, weather, boat, people and services were the best I have ever experienced during many years of chartering in the med and UK. This area seems to be a little known gem. The water is absolutely clear, the wind (Meltemi) appears at 14:00 every day to provide good sailing until around 18:00 at which time it drops away to allow wonderful evenings at anchorage in the most delightful secluded bays. The yacht was chartered from Aura Yachting, it’s the first time I’ve chartered when everything worked on the boat, the heads didn’t smell, and everything was clean and in 1st class order. the boat was two years old but appeared brand new. I really can’t recommend this place highly enough- if you want the perfect cruise -go to Yalikavav – I’ll be back again later this year!
