Would like to share our experiences both at Shelter Bay Marina and with using Stanley an Agent for the canal passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
Using an Agent
The ease of transiting using Stanley (scott@cwpanama.net
and cell 6680 7971 ) was amazing. He handled all! Our entry permits, our cruising documents for the San Blas Islands, ALL Canal paperwork, and help with supplies and services in the Panama area. He arranged and supplied lines and fenders as part of his services. He even supplied the mandatory food and drink for the Pilot and line handlers. In the end I believe that his fee made the whole trip less expensive that if we would have done it ourselves. We were also able to select the day of transit and have it confirmed by the Canal Authority. We did change three times with no penalty! Five days out of Colon our engine decided that it didn’t like the bad fuel we purchased in Key West and stopped. With Stanley’s and Shelter Bay Marina’s help we were able to get both the fuel polished and tanks cleaned and also have the fuel injection pump and injectors replaced. A huge job but made easier with their help!
A Great Marina
Shelter Bay - One of the best. What a find.
Secure, new floating docks, friendly staff, located in a National Park and very reasonable rates. We left our boat for a few trips and felt the boat was in very safe and secure hands. It is very secluded and safe!
