Rio Yacht Club Niteroi Recommended

We highly recommend the Rio Yacht Club, Niteroi to sailors visiting Rio de Janeiro. The Club, which is also known as "The English Club", has 22 nationalities within its 200 members, who are active sailors, to a very high standard... they have the most Olympic medals in Brazil! The club is set in tranquil grounds, with a homely feel, an ideal spot to rest after/before a long sail. The members made us very welcome and were interested to hear about our travels. They went out of their way to assist with repairs and organised a lift for us at a neighbouring club, as their crane was being serviced. If available, buoys can be used for mooring, which gives excellent peace of mind whilst away from your yacht, although the anchoring seems very good. You have the peace and safety of this lovely city, with supermarkets, shops, banks, beaches, bars, restaurants, laundrette etc all within safe walking distance, whilst Rio de Janeiro is only a short, cheap ferry ride away.

Hope you enjoy one of the most beautiful spots in the world, as much as we did. Please see the "News" page on our web-site for further information about our travels.

Obrigado Rio Yacht Club for making our stay in Brazil unforgettable.
