Phuket Island, Thailand, has established itself as a top destination for all styles of tourist and traveler. Famous for the stunning Phang Nga Bay, made notorious by films such as James Bond’s “The Man with The golden Gun” and more recently “The Beach” the scenery truly takes one's breath away.

Yacht Haven Marina, set on the edge of Phang Nga Bay, is at the NE end of Phuket, with fresh breezes and surrounded by rolling hills, covered in tropical greens, makes it a welcoming base for the cruising sailor.

Thai owned, Yacht Haven Marina has now been established for about 8 years and was the 2nd marina to open in Phuket – in fact only 3 marinas presently exist although others are in the planning stages.

Phuket is set on the “Trade Wind Route” so, the marine industry is showing strong signs of growth, in fact within the whole SE Asia area. Phuket is striving to establish itself as the ultimate Yachting destination in the area, by providing top skilled labour and infrastructure to the visiting “yachtie”. Of course, let us not forget the magnetic enchantment of the so special, Thai smile and the allure of Asian culture.

Yacht Haven, while 45 mins away from the hustle and bustle of night life in Patong, is quickly growing; expanding its services as the demand of the visitor increases. Only two years ago the Marina office was a container. Now many offices exist, offering all related services, not to mention showers & toilets… something past guests might appreciate! Not only this but a pool, gym and accommodation will be operational December 06. As managers, Nick & Zara, along with their great staff, strive hard to provide a personal and caring service.

So, the future for Yacht Haven Marina… well, new docks are all but complete, just in time to accommodate the Blue Water Rally in whose team the infamous Gypsy Moth is part, not to mention the other 60 or so other yachts that are due to arrive. These new docks provide over 600 meters of alongside dockage, for all sizes of vessel. Within the next year, work will commence on a hardstand, along with the development of more shoreside facilities for both seasonal visitors & Phuket residents. The key focus is on the protection of the environment, local community and of course an international yet personal service.

As a marine community we are privileged to experience areas the “average” traveler is unable to & we can honestly say Phuket offers one of the world’s most remarkable cruising grounds. It is up to all of us, with our varied experiences and educations to enjoy and respect our environments and the cultures we touch.
