Falkland Islands

Visa are required by all except nationals of EU and commonwealth countries, Australia, Brazil, Iceland, Rep of Korea, New Zealand, South Africa, United States, Canada, Finland, Israel, Norway, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Hong Kong, Japan, and Switzerland.

If visas are required, they must be obtained before arrival.

Gambia

All yachts coming to the Gambia are now granted a one month stay on arrival and this can be extended up to three months for a fee of USD10 at the Immigration Office, Anglesea and Dobson Street, Banjul.

Ivory Coast

No visas are required for a stay up to three months for nationals of Andorra, Chad, Monaco, Morocco, the Seychelles, Tunisia, USA and African ECOWAS countries. No visas are required by South Africans for stays up to 30 days. All other nationals need visas.

There are Ivorian representatives in Paris, Dakar, Rabat, Algiers and Tunis.

Mauritania

At the present time there are no clear-cut rules on visas to Mauritania. But French, Italians, and West Africans can enter without one. Everyone else will have to experience a system not too accustomed with issuing visas. Applying is best done from home, but there are Mauritanian representatives in Paris, Abidjan, Algiers, Dakar, Rabat and Las Palmas.

Namibia

Visas are not required for citizens of South Africa. All visitors must be in possession of a passport which is valid for at least 6 months beyond intended departure date from Namibia. The citizens of the following countries will be permitted a visa free entry for a maximum period of 90 days (extensions are possible on application to immigration): United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Liechtenstein, Ireland, UK, Italy, Austria, France, Japan, USA, Canada, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Iceland, Angola, Zambia, Botswana, Australia, Portugal, Spain, New Zealand, Mozambique, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Singapore, Luxembourg, Cuba, Malaysia, Brazil and Kenya.

Senegal

Visas are not required by nationals of the European Union (with the exception of the newly joined member states), Canada, Israel, Japan, South Africa, many African countries and the United States for up to a three months' stay. All other nationals need a visa obtained in advance. Visas are not issued on arrival.

There are Senegalese missions in Abidjan, Algiers, Banjul, Casablanca, Tunis, Praia, Rabat and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; otherwise visas may be issued by French embassies. Entry may be denied to those whose passport shows evidence of having visited Mauritania.

St Helena

No visas required but a landing fee of £11 is payable for all visitors over twelve years old. A Visitors Pass will normally be issued for a period of one month, although this may be renewed for stays up to three months.

Remember to have your proof of medical insurance with you if you intend staying longer than 48 hours.
