Getting stuff shipped to French Polynesia

To correct posts made on Noonsite in 2003, I have just received several items shipped from West Marine in USA, who are very familiar with sending to Papeete. They use Fedex who were very good. The value was about $US1000 and it was held by customs, but Fedex routinely collect it from the airport provided they have copies of your boat docs, passport etc. It was cleared with no additional expense in 1 day. No mention was made of agents. The chandlers here stock very little, apparently because it is so easy to get stuff from West Marine.
