Over 100 entries have been received for the annual Darwin to Kupang Rally, Sail Indonesia and Sail Asia and entry to these events has now closed.

The Darwin to Kupang Rally is the first stage of the Sail Asia Darwin-Bali-Langkawi Rally which will take yachts through three countries over a five month period beginning in Darwin and finishing at the island of Langkawi, Malaysia in November.

The 2006 Darwin to Kupang Rally will leave Darwin on Saturday July 22 2006 in Darwin Harbour and finish at the finish line off Kupang on the Western end of the Island of Timor in Indonesia. The rally is a distance of approximately 450 miles and should take 3 to 6 days depending upon the strength of the prevailing winds.

Once in Indonesia participating yachts can attend a series of Cultural Expos at five different islands. The Tourism Departments on each of these islands have planned at least two cultural events for this rally at each stopover, a gala welcome and a dinner along with cultural and dance performances.

The rally will then continue on to Malaysia finishing at the island of Langkawi in November. Yachts taking part in the Singapore to Langkawi stage have the added benefit of cruising in company north from Singapore under the watch of the Malaysian Navy through these uncertain waters.
