As the book’s subtitle “Crewing Around the World” indicates, this is a comprehensive guide aimed at anyone planning to see more of the world as a crew on a yacht. Having had first-hand experience in this field, the author is in a good position to give plenty of tips on how best to achieve this aim: how to find a suitable yacht, what to do to be signed on as crew, where and when to go to have a good chance of finding the largest number of cruising yachts. The book also deals with the often contentious problem of what an owner expects of his or her crew, and what the crew can expect from a skipper. As many potential crew set off with high expectations of ideally finding a paid job on a yacht, the author gives good advice on how this is to be achieved, and also what is expected of a professional crew on one of the larger yachts. Since first published in 1990, the book has now reached its fifth edition and proves to be a valuable source of reference for both aspiring crews and yacht owners or skippers.
