A favourite among sailors planning a North Atlantic circuit, the latest edition of this cruising guide presents a comprehensive overview of the four island groups that lie astride the most popular cruising routes in the Atlantic: Madeira, Canaries, Cape Verdes and Azores. Each section that deals with a particular island group starts with a general description of the archipelago and includes general information on the islands, and also practical tips on formalities, communications, medical matters, provisioning and a host of other subjects. Throughout the book there are lists of useful websites that are relevant to a particular island or port.
All ports and anchorages in the individual islands are dealt with in detail, with notes on tides, lights and buoys, as well as a description of the approaches, anchoring or berthing arrangements, formalities, as well as repair and shore facilities. Marinas are dealt with in even more detail, with a comprehensive description of the various repair and service facilities available. Every port is accompanied by a detailed plan and also colour photographs, many of them very useful aerial photographs.
