French yacht "ATHANOR" skippered by Yves BERRY left Hendaye, France, on 24 November 2004 with the eventual destination of Hawaii via the Panama Canal. Single-hander Yves BERRY (66) informed his family he would be in contact in 40 days but so far no news has been heard.
The yacht is a sloop, 9.5m (30 feet) long, white hull with a blue stripe, registration BA-802088 painted on the hull. Only VHF on board, call sign FO 3123. The Panama Canal authorities have confirmed that he had not transited the Canal as of April 2005. Hence, the vessel's search should be emphasized in the Atlantic Basin and the Caribbean and its bordering
nations.
