Tokelau Hit By Cyclone Percy

On 25 Feb 2005 Cyclone Percy struck the Tokelau island group causing considerable damage as waves swept over the low-lying islands. The atolls of Nukunonu and Fakaofo were worst hit, but the damage to Atafu was also considerable. This is the second tropical storm to hit Tokelau in as many years, after Cyclone Heta in January 2004 caused widespread damage, above all on Niue.
