New Regulations In Croatia Crack Down On Chartering

Countries: Croatia

New regulations in Croatia regarding foreign yachts state that the total number of persons on a yacht within one year cannot exceed DOUBLE the number of persons that a vessel can carry at any one time. Furthermore, all these persons must be listed when you buy the cruising permit at the beginning of the season.

For example: If your boat can carry a maximum of 10 people you will have to make a list of max. 20 people and add it to the permit. The crew list will not be allowed to contain persons who are not mentioned on the list of 20 persons, and any yacht found to be in breach of this will be considered to be undertaking illegal chartering.

On the homepage of the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development: http://www.mmtpr.hr/ there is an English translation of the new regulation: http://www.mmtpr.hr/UserDocsImages/041231-uredba-dolazak-boravak-engl.pdf

New regulations also state that foreign yachts previously chartering under special license in Croatia will from 2005 be obliged to register with Croatian Shipping Register. For more details, http://www.mmtpr.hr/UserDocsImages/041231-article-1030-engl.pdf
