For Canadian sailors cruising the Bahamas or the Caribbean this coming winter, the Commodore of the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba is very
pleased to extend a warm welcome and invitation to attend
RENDEZVOUS HAVANA - 2005 January 10-14, 2005 at the Hemingway
International Yacht Club in Havana Cuba. Details of this first and
special gathering for Canadian sailors can be found found at

The Commodore of the Yacht Club, Comodoro José Miguel Diaz Escrich, is
well known to Canadian Boaters who have visited Cuba and from his many
contacts with Canadian boating associations. In 2003, Comodoro Escrich
was an official guest of the Toronto International Boat Show and a
featured presenter at the show. Since that visit many Canadian Yacht
Clubs have established friendly reciprocal agreements with the Hemingway
International Yacht Club including the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, The
National Yacht Club, the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club, Toronto Island
Yacht Club, the Kingston Yacht Club, Mimico Cruising Club, BayPort
Yachting Centre, Ashridges Bay Yacht Club, Port Credit Yacht Club, the
Shellbacks Club, Women Sailors Association, Frenchman's Bay Yacht Club,
Alexandra Yacht Club, and the Ontario Sailing Association.
Marina Hemingway is is an extremely well equipped facility with restaurants, two hotels, swimming pools, recreational and water sport activities. There are regular free shuttle buses to downtown Havana. Planned Rendezvous activities include receptions, bbqs, local tours and city walks, a Sailpast Naval Parade, and opportunities to participate in outings to the Tropicana Nightclub, and the many tours available.

After the Rendezvous, you can avail yourself of the support and planning services of the Hemingway Yacht Club to plan individual or group cruising adventures in Cuba. A Cuban Cruising Permit costs a mere $30.US. The Club can help facilitate these plans by offering information on the best protected anchorages, ports and co-ordination with Cuban authorities.
