Dear Noonsite:
Having arrived with my Ovni 435 Let's Go! on 4 April, 2004, I am pleased to report that the expectations created by the information on Noonsite regarding this facility have been fulfilled. The staff and management, assisted by Canadian ex-pat yacht maintenance specialist George Stewart, have made us feel as though our decision to store the boat for two months in Ecuador prior to sailing on, a very comfortable one. Having arrived on the 4th, the boat was hauled out painlessly on the 7th and I returned home on 9 April with Mr. Stewart looking after a number of minor (and one not so minor) maintenance issues.
The Marina charges, paid in advance, are;
In and Out: US$ 240
Ist Month Storage: US$ 457 (after 5% discount but including taxes)
2nd Month Storage: US$ 433 (after 10% discount but including taxes)
I was informed that storage charges are the same as the charges for the floating berth, where the boat was located prior to haul out.
Immigration and Port fees were US$15 per person and US$ 31.50 for the boat.
The marina was uncrowded with about 15 foreign yachts, many preparing to leave this week.
Be prepared to use your Spanish. Unlike Panama, English is not a natural second language. This can be a challenge.
Regards,
Jim Patek
