Having made history with both her flagship Antarctic projects, Pelagic Australis is now on charter in the Beagle Channel bound for Punta Arenas. See
www.breaking-the-ice.de for the historic union of Israelis and Palestinians in the Antarctic on board both Pelagic Australis and Pelagic during January 2004. Pelagic's second adventure was a voyage into the Weddell Sea with Magnus Olson's Swedish team to visit the 3 historic sites of the 1903 Nordenskjold Expedition. Pelagic was the only vessel to have reached
Snow Hill Island this season and probably the only sailing vessel to
have done so since 1903!
Future expeditions and cruises on offer aboard Pelagic Australis include a delivery trip back to the UK, departing Puerto Williams April 21st via Brazil, Cape Verdes and the Azores, and charters in the Northern Hemisphere through the summer of 2004.
The newly launched 23 meter Pelagic Australis is a "state of the art" expedition sailing vessel, built in heavy aluminium and is fitted with a lifting keel and rudder. The vessel can carry 12 people in total and is autonomous for 60 days in terms of fuel and food storage capacity. Pelagic Australis will be in Southampton, UK during the first two weeks in June; groups or individuals who are interested in visiting the vessel and discussing possible itineraries are welcome to book a time with Skip Novak - email skipnovak@pelagic.co.uk
In October and November 2004 Pelagic will undertake two 21
day expeditions to South Georgia starting from and returning to Stanley in
the Falkland Islands. The theme of both of these voyages will be "Expedition Photography in the Field" and lead by international experts in the discipline. Other forthcoming expeditions will be to the Falklands in December and the Antarctic Peninsula in January and February of 2005.
As always the original Pelagic will be available for custom charters
anywhere in the Pelagic World based from Southern South America.
Visit www.pelagic.co.uk for itineraries and logistics, as well as details on how to register for monthly updates of news and opportunities to sail with Pelagic
either as a group or individual.
