Greetings from Bali Marina,
The Indonesian Government has instituted a "30 day / $25 visa
on arrival for selected countries. Other less fortunate countries must obtain a visa before entering Indonesia. A real step backwards for tourism but, a done deal effective 1 February 2004.
Bali Marina must advise all yachts wishing to cruise Indonesian waters for more than 30 days to obtain a CAIT (cruising permit) AND a social budaya visa before sailing to Indonesia. The social visa will be issued for 60 days at the nearest Indonesian Consulate and is renewable each month for a total of 6 months. We have offered a "package deal" which includes the CAIT, Visa sponsor letter and port clearances in/out of Benoa Harbor. See our web site at http://www.balimarina.com for all the details ---and more.
Also, the Darwin/Bali Yacht Race is ON ! with a scheduled start from Darwin on 26 July.
We're still looking into a Darwin/Kupang Rally which was a great success last year.
Interested captains should see http://www.darwinbalirace.com and send a letter of intent
to receive an entry form and more info.
Fair winds, Dick McCune, G.M.Bali Marina
