Noonsite has been advised by yachts who have visited the Andamans that formalities may be somewhat eased by preparing in advance as much documentation as possible. The documents follow below are examples only. It is recommended to have at least 4-5 copies of each.

DOCUMENT ONE

Equipment: Here a detailed list should be drawn up of all equipment onboard including inboard & outboard engines, all electronics (eg VHF, navigational instruments, computers, Cd/cassette/radio, generator, cameras and safety equipment).

Ships Alcohol Stores: specify quantity of spirits, wines and beer.

Other Equipment: Compressor, dive tanks & other equipment, electric anchor winch, inflatable RIB dinghy, fishing equipment etc

Ships Currency: specific amount.

I confirm that all of the above details are correct to the best of my knowledge.

DOCUMENT THREE

A list should be made out for each individual on board detailing personal items such as cameras, watches and any electronics of value as well as currency carried individually. Several copies should be made of this.

Of:…..County of registry…………….arrived Port Blair on:…date……….………… From:…………….last port…..……………..carrying……total…… passengers (list enclosed) are hereby permitted to visit and stay over night in Municipal area of Port Blair, Havelock, Long Island, Neil Island, entire islands of South Andaman & Middle Andaman, excluding tribal reserve, Baratang, Rangat, Mayabunder, Diglipur, North Passage Islands, Little Andaman excluding tribal reserve and all islands in Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park except Boat, Hobday,Twin Island, Tarmugli, Malay and Pluto Island. He / She can also visit Jolly Buoy, South Cinque, Red Skin, Mount Harriet, Maduban, Ross Island, Narcondum, Interview, Brother, Sister and Barren Island during day time ( Visit of Barren island is restricted on board the vessel with no landing ashore.) These visits are subject to restrictions imposed by Chief Wild Life Warden, A & N Islands. This permit is valid till ….date………..…. Subject to the following conditions:-

  1. No foreigner shall remain in these areas after expiry of the permit. The permit is not extendable in any circumstances.
  2. The visiting parties would invariably be accompanied by a guide nominated by the Chief Wild Life Warden of A & N Islands and should follow the code of conduct in the park areas
  3. Visitors should obtain prior entry permission from the Office of the Chief Wildlife Warden A & N Islands, Port Blair on payment of prescribed entry fees in respect of areas under National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries. Entry without valid permit from the Chief Wildlife Warden is prohibited under sec.27 and 35. (8) and punishable under Sec. 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
  4. Visit to Marine Park area is restricted to small boats or glass bottom boats. No oil leakage is to be allowed in the area.
  5. Scuba diving and underwater photography is to be permitted in identified areas, but no removal of coral, fish or any other item from Marine Park is to be permitted.
  6. As regards to two Volcanic Islands, Barren Island and Narcondum Island foreign tourists may be allowed to visit Barren Island on board vessels but no landing ashore. UT Administration would provide escort to tourists visiting the island. For Nacondum Island it has been decided that it may be opened to foreign tourists for diving and unescorted day visits.
  7. No Burmese National will be allowed to visit Mayabunder and Diglipur without prior permission of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
  8. The passenger and crew do not include any Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iran, Afganistan, Somalia, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Algeria nationals.
  9. No deviation from pre-drawn itinerary.
  10. No individual would be allowed to drop out from the group at any place.
  11. Immigration clearance will be given at Port Blair only on arrival/Departure.
  12. The vessel shall have to inform its location twice a day after every 12 hours to PMB Control Room
  13. The Clearance of the Customs and Port Control Management Board is necessary before arrival / departure.
  14. The visit to any of the Defense Establishments / area is Prohibited.

Noonsite note: Recent information lists 72 islands which are now considered as sanctuaries or National Park; even islands of .20 of a square kilometre. All of these islands attract the wildlfe fees and require prior permission to visit.
