Catamaran Rebelle reported the following two incidents:

June 3rd 2014 - Anchored in front of Royal Suva Yacht Club.
Dinghy and outboard stolen.
Not clear if owners on board at time of robbery.
Only the dinghy was recovered a few days later.
Owners reported, per the police, it was the 3rd dinghy/outboard robbery in 1 month in Suva.

Note: This robbery did not occur within the jurasdiction of the RSYC who are only responsible for boats inside their marina. "Rebelle" was anchored in the harbour, the security for which is the responsibility of the water police.

The Royal Suva Yacht Club have commented; "From a national perspective, our boarder control officers with the police are trying to solve this issue, which I must add is not a frequent occurrence but like most other places from time to time we get such hooligans. Our best advice to all yachties is to take preventive measures wherever they travel, such as, informing the boats next to them to keep an eye when they are not on their vessel."

June 10th 2014 - At the dry dock at MISEL boatyard (close to the RSYC).
Owners were staying ashore at a nearby hotel while the boat was being painted.
Yacht was broken into on the last day of a 4 day painting job, during the night before re-entry into the water, and stole valuables
(cameras, watches, jewels, foreign money, etc...).

MISEL yard confirmed that no one has been charged for the robbery and the Police suspect the intruder comes from the back (from the foreshore). There were 3 other boats on the dock, but only "Rebelle" was broken into.

The owner comments; "My insurance reimbursed nothing of the 2 robberies, a European Insurance, Generali, because deductible, lack of valid bills, age/tear and wear of the items, without mentioning they found the double robbery suspicious, so I'm on the hot list now (dedicated to all Generali customers)."
