January/February 2010 Convoy Oman to Red Sea

We are a 33 ft sailboat, and we wish to leave from Oman toward the Red Sea in January or February 2010. I have had the fortune to meet the ambassador of Italy in Oman, Mr. Capitani, who has introduced me to the Captain of Navy Di Natale, responsible maritime of the sector OMAN YEMEN. If the number of sailing boats is substantial, perhaps he could organize an armed escort beginning from Salalah or Al Mukalla in coordination with the international maritime coalition .. If you are interested in taking part and want more details, please contact me immediately.

We are sailing on Alondra and are going from Phuket to Salalah at the beginning of February 2010. From there we want to sail in convoy to Aden, maybe as far as Eritrea and Sudan. Probably leaving Salalah beginning of March. We came through the Red Sea in 2008 and have extensive knowledge, as well as all waypoints and information regarding the Red Sea for anyone who is interested. At the moment we are planning an information evening somewhere in Phuket sometime in January with other yachts sailing the same direction.> Please contact us if you are interested in joining us and see how we can get together. Northern Indian Ocean (South & East Bound) - 2010

2010 or 2011 - Convoy South
kogo47@gmx.at
We are a couple with a very solid 34 foot steel sailing boat and would like to sail in 2010 (or better in 2011) from the Med through the Red Sea to Malaysia, Thailand. However, we will only consider this if we can be in a convoy of at least three boats that commit to each other to stay together all along the route - starting in the Med at least until Yemen. This is not only because of pirates, it is also because of many other things for which we can all help each other out, e.g. bureaucracy, repairs, handling of formalities etc. Even with different speeds of boats, no one can ever predict the need of help of another one.
To meet before, in 2009 or 2010 in the Med, would be an incentive. Meeting beforehand would help us see if we all fit together.

My name is Lars Hässler of Stockholm in Sweden. I intend to sail to the Indian Ocean and Asia via the Red Sea sometime in August 2010. I have a 50’ Beneteau (Oceanis 500) and I have circumnavigated once before. I am trying to find other yachts heading to Thailand in the fall of 2010 so we might organize a convoy. Anyone know about any other yacht?
Best regards
