Carenero : Profile

Location

Tucked into a bay just where the Venezuelan coast turns SE. Anchored here near the manggroves, it is an amazing sight at dusk to watch thousands upon thousands of birds of all types (scarlet ibis, green parrots, pelicans, herons, cormorants and white egrets) return from a day's foraging.

Position 10°31.7'N, 66°05.9'W.

Clearance

The port captain's office is about a mile away from the yacht club.

Docking

There is a protected anchorage outside the yacht club marina.

The marina is a private one and does not normally accomodate visitors.
