Bluewater Cruiser's Question Time
London Boat Show - January 2017

World Cruising Club's popular Bluewater Cruisers Question Time will take place on Saturday 7 January, at the ExCel Novotel Hotel alongside the London Boat Show. This panel discussion is a must for anyone considering making a long offshore passage; crossing the Bay of Biscay, the Atlantic or further bluewater cruising.

The session is free to attend with advanced registration and delegates are invited to connect with other future ralliers and meet and mingle with the panel and the World Cruising Club team over coffee from 10:00. The Question Time session will begin at 10:30 and finish by midday.

During the discussion the panel of experienced cruisers and marine professionals will cover topics like preparing your boat, selecting equipment, sails and sail handling, life onboard, crew management, route and weather. In addition to industry experts, this year's panellists will include experienced sailors who have completed countless bluewater sailing passages around the world.

Also available for advice will be representatives from World Cruising Club's supporters, including Hamble School of Yachting, MailaSail and Mactra Watermakers. The objective is to share their knowledge and experience in a friendly and informative way. Our moderator will keep the discussion moving and audience members are encouraged to participate and to ask questions.

Conveniently located next to the ExCel exhibition centre hosting the London Boat Show participants can visit the show and look at the equipment and boats mentioned during the discussion.

In-depth three day seminar for planning and preparing to go ocean cruising
Guildford - March/April 2017

Hosted by World Cruising Club in association with Yachting World, the Ocean Cruising Seminar will return to Guildford, UK from Friday 29 March to Sunday 2 April 2017.  Open to all, the seminar is perfect for those considering the transition from coastal cruising to blue water passage making. Lecturers have been chosen for their wealth of knowledge in their specialist fields including refitting a yacht for offshore cruising, communications equipment choices, sourcing and interpreting weather forecasts and heavy weather sailing techniques.

The Ocean Cruising Seminar combines classroom lectures with group discussions and one-on-one interaction with speakers and fellow students. An all-inclusive programme of seminar presentations, speaker materials, hotel accommodation, meals, and social time together combine to provide a cost-effective, enjoyable in-depth learning experience.

"The Ocean Cruising Seminar has been invaluable. We are in the early stages of planning and I feel 100 times more informed than I did three days ago."  commented Kerry Moores after she attended in 2016. "Over the course of the weekend, we have built knowledge, contacts and ideas, as well as had the opportunity to raise our own questions. Staff and speakers have all been excellent and approachable and its great have a finer plan going forward!"

Many of those who attended last year's seminar are have been taking part in ARC 2016 sailing from Gran Canaria to Saint Lucia, and are looking ahead to their more ambitious cruising dreams. "A well put together programme." Said John Miller, sailing Great Days with ARC+ 2016. " The seminar was very professionally managed and organised. I'd say it's a must for anyone considering entering the ARC."
