Wick : Profile
Wick lies on the east coast of northern Scotland, some 15 miles south of Duncansby Head (John O Groats). Since the discovery of North Sea Oil. Wick has been used as a base for offshore supply vessels. The traffic this generates has allowed the development of Wick Airport, just north of the town.
The harbour, the home of a 30 strong fishing fleet, remains both active and interesting and provides good shelter, although more exposed in strong E’lies when it can be dangerous to enter.
A new 70 berth marina has been developed in the inner harbour. The pontoons originally in the outer harbour have now been moved there. If give no other instructions, visitors use pontoon F.
