Torquay : Profile

Location

Tucked into the northern shore of Tor Bay, Torquay is a typical seaside resort. Holidaymakers are attracted by the wide sands and the better than average amounts of sunshine which occur in its micro-climate.

Position 50°27.4'N, 03°31.7'W.

Docking

In settled weather, there are several anchorages around the Bay, but none providing all-round shelter close to Torquay.

The harbour has a marina and a town dock, both of which provide visitors' berths. There is also a floating pontoon alongside Haldon Pier, which protects the southern side of the harbour.

The inner harbour (access over a sill), is usually full of local boats.

In the north east corner of Tor Bay, Torquay Marina is well sheltered from prevailing SW'ly winds providing safe entry in all conditions and at any state of the tide. All facilities, laundry, WiFi, chandlery, provisions, restauant and bar. No fuel.Booking in advance secures a visitors' berth.
