  Southampton (River Itchen) : Profile

Location

The River Itchen enters the northern end of Southampton Water. The Itchen Bridge is high enough to clear masted vessels. Beyond Kemps Marina, the river is too shallow for most boats.

Docking

There are three marinas here; Ocean Village and Shamrock Quay have 24hr access and Kemps is restricted to 3 hours each side of high water. Beware of the moorings in the middle of the river if entering at night.

This marina is on the south shore, round the bend after Shamrock Quay. Accessible only 3.5 hours either side of HW with a limited number of deep water berths, the rest being half tide, drying out to soft mud. Water, electricity, 5 ton crane, fuel, mechanic.

When entering the river from Southampton Water, this marina is immediately to port after passing under the Itchen Bridge. Accessible 24 hours a day. It has all services, but no shore storage.

Situated at top of River Itchen intended to accommodate superyachts and larger vessels. 200 ton boat hoist and marine specialists and full facilities. Ideal refit location.

This marina is further up the river Itchen, beyond Ocean Village, on the north shore. 63 ton boat hoist, 12 ton crane. All the usual facilities. Accessible and manned 24 hours a day. 75 ton travel hoist and 47 ton boat mover.
