Docking

Although not much bigger than a village, Carlingford is one of Ireland's best preserved medieval towns. Positioned on the west coast of Ireland, marking the border between the North and the South, this long lough provides many peaceful anchorages. The entrance can be impassable in very strong on-shore winds, and at all times yachts must keep clear of the commercial shipping using the buoyed channel up to the busy container port of Warrenpoint.

There is a small marina at Carlingford, about halfway up the lough on the southern shore, and, near the head of the lough, pontoon berths at Warrenpoint on the northern side.
