Docking

Barra is a tranquil island located near the southern tip of the Western Isles. It is only five miles across by eight miles long, and forms a compact paradise with stunning coastal scenery and fascinating flora and fauna.

Castlebay (56deg 56.7’N, 07deg 29.6’W) is a very good sheltered harbour with excellent holding. The best anchorage is in about 8m, NW of the castle. There are 8 visitors’ buoys and a ferry pier.

Water and fuel are available, as well as provisions. The village also has shops, 2 hotels, a bank, post office and a hospital.
