  Yalta : Profile

Clearance

The main commercial harbour is open to the south and with an onshore wind, conditions can become untenable. It may be possible to obtain permission to go to the sheltered commercial harbour, Massandra. Better protection and adequate conditions for visiting yachts will be found at Artek Marina, 7 miles north of Yalta. When contacting the authorities by radio on arrival, one should insist on being allowed to go directly to Artek Marina and complete formalities there.

It may not be possible to avoid having to hire an agent for clearance formalities.

Docking

Artek Harbour is a yacht harbour with some basic facilities: fuel is available by jerrycan, and the port captain may be able to help arrange repairs. It is a bus ride into Yalta, where shopping is better; there is a good market for fresh produce in the city. The Yalta Marine Agency may also be able to help with repairs.
