World Cruising Club: Annapolis Boat Show eNews

October 5-9, 2017: The US Sailboat Show at Annapolis Boat Show is just a couple of days away and we hope you are as excited as we are about the show. It takes place as usual in October, from 5-9 October in the heart of the city. With lots of attractions at the show including new boat launches and equipment offers, we know many of you will be planning a visit, so here's a round up of World Cruising Club and our partners' activities at the show. We hope you will be coming to the show!

We also have a busy program of seminars and our crew party on the Friday - these all need advance sign-up so see the links below.

You all will have read about the Hurricanes affecting the Caribbean this summer. We will be sharing an appeal link with you all soon, and helping '1500 boats take useful supplies to the Islands. Nanny Cay are keen to have the Caribbean 1500 boats there so the rally will go ahead as planned.

Ocean Sailing Forum
Saturday October 7th 9:00-11:30 am
Loews Hotel

This two hour moderated panel discussion, run in association with SAIL magazine, is designed to be an informative introduction to offshore cruising and will cover topics like preparing your boat, selecting equipment, sail handling, life onboard, crew management, route planning and weather.

The panel includes Paul and Sheryl Shard of TV Show Distant Shores and live-aboard cruisers Nick and Terysa from Yacht Ruby Rose .

The Forum will take place at the Loews Annapolis Hotel on West Street, about a 10-15 minute walk from the show. The discussion starts promptly at 9:30AM and will finish by 11:30AM. Coffee and donuts available from 9AM and a chance to chat with other sailors and our panelists.

A copy of SAIL Magazine and a ticket to the show is included in the registration.

World ARC Breakfast
Friday October 6th, 8:30-10:30 am
Federal House Restaurant

World Cruising Club is hosting a breakfast meeting right beside the Show at the Federal House restaurant on Market Space; your chance to discuss any aspects of World ARC face to face, plus meet with other like-minded cruising sailors in a relaxed environment. In addition to updating you on the latest news of the rally, Jeremy Wyatt will give a presentation on the route, safety equipment requirements, and other preparation issues before taking your questions.
The session is currently fully subscribed, but do please email us if you would like to attend.

 

Boat Show Happy Hour
Friday October 6th 6:00-8:00pm
Chesapeake Sailmakers Loft, Eastport
7366 Edgewood Rd, Annapolis
Join the WCC team and future and former rally participants for a drink and some light appetizers at the Chesapeake Sailmakers loft in Eastport, just a few minutes up the street from Port Annapolis Marina. It's a casual evening where friends new and old alike can relax and share their sailing stories. Parking is available right outside the loft.
